it's not my turn

It’s not my turn to do a lot of things, but it is my turn to soak up the beautiful, exhausting, magic of motherhood while the turn is still mine.

car line chronicles

7 Things I’ve learned from my first week in the car line at school…

#1 –  The front of the drop off line is reserved for special people and I don’t have what it takes to be one of them

stay strong, little man

Out of our three babies, he was the strongest and most active in utero. He could hold his head up on Day 1 and support his entire upper body during Week 1. Everyone who holds him says “wow, he is so strong!” Even his pediatrician…and she’s held a lot of babies.

And you know what? I hope he is strong.

I hope he’s strong like his Daddy, but even more so like his Heavenly Father.

all that you have

She says, “God, thank you for giving us all that you have.”

Meet kelcey

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

I’ve been married to my husband, CJ, for 12 years. He really is amazing. We have four children – Avery (8), Riley (5), Makayla (almost 2), and Carter (1). Yes, the babies are very close in age (7 months to be exact) but that’s a story for another time – and yes, it is almost like having twins. Never a dull moment with our crew around and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

I started Okie Sunshine as a way to use my life to encourage and uplift others, be it through funny stories, relatable experiences, or Scriptural applications to everyday life during a rough patch for our family in 2016. Even now, I look at the world around me and there is no shortage of things to be sad, scared, angry, timid, and embarrassed about. But you know what? There is still a lot of good in the world; things to be proud of and grateful for. That is what I choose to focus on.

I’m a stay-at-home mom (who also drives a school bus!), former indoor cycling instructor and Peloton junkie, casual health enthusiast, hater of clutter, lover of road trips, and an avid fan of dark chocolate almonds, coffee, and anything pineapple or coconut.
